About the Role
We’re looking for an organised and customer-focused Sales Coordinator to join our Merchant Sales team in Southampton.
Supporting our Internal Sales Manager and wider sales team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering outstanding service to both new and existing customers. Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries, you’ll manage quotations, process orders, source materials, and help ensure every customer interaction is handled professionally and efficiently.
This role is ideal for someone with sales or customer service experience who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and managing a variety of tasks while supporting a busy and successful sales team.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive, and committed to delivering excellent customer service. You’ll be confident communicating with customers and colleagues, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable taking ownership of your workload.
You will enjoy building relationships, supporting others, and contributing to the success of a collaborative team. Previous sales or customer service experience is essential, while knowledge of construction materials or aggregates would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for new and existing B2B and B2C customers via telephone and email
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve queries promptly and professionally
- Source and price materials to meet customer requirements
- Create, amend, follow up, and close quotations using the company CRM system
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Support field sales representatives as required
- Prepare and dispatch material samples
- Carry out general office administration and assist the wider team when needed
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a sales, sales support, or customer service role
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive and positive approach to work
- Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
Desirable
- Experience within the building, construction, aggregates, or merchant sector
- Knowledge of building materials, construction products, or aggregates
- Experience using CRM systems
