About the Role
Day Group is seeking a motivated and dependable Depot Operative to join our team at Woodsford Depot. This hands-on role is central to the day-to-day operation of the depot, supporting the safe handling, processing, and movement of aggregate materials used across the construction industry.
Working as part of a busy operational team, you will help ensure materials are loaded, stored, and managed efficiently while maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and contributing to a safe, productive working environment. This is a physically active role within an industrial setting and will involve manual handling, operating around processing equipment, and spending extended periods on your feet.
Person Specification
We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and safety-conscious individual who thrives in a team-focused operational environment. You will have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn. You’ll take pride in maintaining a safe and tidy workplace, following procedures, and supporting colleagues to ensure the depot operates efficiently.
Previous experience within a depot, aggregates, production, manufacturing, or construction materials environment would be advantageous, although full training will be provided. Experience operating Telescopic Handlers or Forklift Trucks would also be beneficial but is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the bagging plant safely and efficiently to meet operational requirements
- Operate mobile plant equipment
- Support the safe handling, storage, and movement of materials across the site
- Assist fellow Depot Operatives with daily operational activities
- Carry out housekeeping and cleaning duties throughout the depot and production areas
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment at all times
- Follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Report equipment faults, hazards, and safety concerns promptly
- Contribute to the efficient running of the depot through high standards of safety, productivity, and housekeeping

Desirable
- Experience operating Telescopic Handlers, Forklift Trucks, or other mobile plant equipment
- Experience within the aggregates, construction materials, production, or manufacturing sectors
- Experience using hand tools and operational equipment
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within an industrial environment
- Experience maintaining high standards of housekeeping and site presentation
