Role Overview
About the Role
Join Day Group as a Depot Operative at our Beaconsfield Bagging Depot and play an important role in delivering high quality bagged aggregates to Builder’s Merchants and the wider construction industry.
Working as part of our operations team, you’ll ensure materials are handled, processed, and moved safely and effectively, maintaining high housekeeping standards, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality service across the business.
This is an active role involving manual handling, standing for extended periods, and working around processing equipment in an industrial environment.
Person Specification
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious individual who enjoys working as part of a team in a busy operational environment.
You will be comfortable undertaking physical work, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn new skills. You’ll take pride in maintaining high standards, following procedures, and helping colleagues to ensure the depot operates safely and efficiently.
Previous experience in a depot, production, manufacturing, or construction materials environment would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the bagging plant safely and efficiently in line with production requirements
- Move and reposition aggregate materials within storage bays and around the depot
- Operate mobile plant equipment where trained and authorised to do so
- Support the safe handling, storage and movement of materials across the site
- Assist other Depot Operatives and colleagues with day-to-day operational activities
- Carry out housekeeping and cleaning activities across the depot and plant areas
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment at all times
- Follow company health, safety and environmental procedures and policies
- Report faults, hazards, defects and safety concerns promptly
- Contribute to the efficient running of the depot through high standards of productivity, safety and housekeeping
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Comfortable carrying out physically active work
- Ability to follow health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable
- Experience operating Telescopic Handlers, Forklift Trucks, or other mobile plant equipment
- Experience within an aggregates, construction materials, production, or manufacturing environment
- Experience using hand tools and operational equipment
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within an industrial environment
- Experience maintaining high standards of housekeeping and site presentation
