New Wellingborough Plant Delivers Sustainable Aggregates for Midlands Construction
The new £20 million aggregate manufacturing plant has officially opened in Wellingborough, set to produce around 200,000 tonnes of lower-carbon aggregate each year to support construction across the Midlands.
Developed through a partnership between Encyclis and Day Group, with GRS as regional distributor the facility will process incinerator bottom ash (IBA) from energy recovery facilities into Ecoblend®, a certified aggregate used in roads, car parks, pavements and more.
The launch was marked by Gen Kitchen, MP for Wellingborough, who hailed the project as a key example of investment in sustainable infrastructure and circular resource use.
Located at Finedon Road Industrial Estate, the plant addresses a local shortfall in raw materials, reducing reliance on imports and supporting the region’s environmental targets. It has already created new local jobs and bolstered the construction supply chain with a practical and reliable aggregate option.
Adam Day, Contracts Director at Day Group, said:
“We’re proud to bring this cutting-edge facility online. Ecoblend offers the region a sustainable, high-quality material that supports both performance and environmental priorities.”
