About the Role
Day Group is seeking a motivated and dependable Depot Operative to join our team at Woodsford Depot. This hands-on role is central to the day-to-day operation of the depot, supporting the safe handling, processing, and movement of aggregate materials used across the construction industry.
Working as part of a busy operational team, you will help ensure materials are loaded, stored, and managed efficiently while maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and contributing to a safe, productive working environment. This is a physically active role within an industrial setting and will involve manual handling, operating around processing equipment, and spending extended periods on your feet.
Person Specification
We are looking for a practical, safety-focused individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a hardworking team. You will be reliable, proactive, and committed to maintaining high standards across all aspects of depot operations.
The successful candidate will be comfortable carrying out physically demanding tasks, able to follow procedures effectively, and willing to learn new skills. Previous experience in an aggregates, construction, manufacturing, or production environment would be advantageous, although full training will be provided for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the safe and efficient operation of depot processes and equipment
- Load, unload, move and organise aggregate materials across the site
- Operate mobile plant machinery where appropriately trained and authorised
- Support the storage, handling and processing of materials in line with operational requirements
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the depot
- Carry out routine housekeeping and cleaning duties throughout operational areas
- Maintain high standards of site presentation, cleanliness, and organisation
- Follow all Company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Promptly report hazards, equipment faults, incidents or unsafe conditions
- Contribute to productivity targets while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality standards

- Experience operating mobile plant equipment such as Telehandlers, Forklift Trucks, or Loading Shovels
- Previous experience within the aggregates, construction materials, manufacturing, or production sectors
- Ability to use hand tools and general site equipment safely
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures within an industrial workplace
- Experience maintaining high standards of housekeeping and operational site presentation
