Grit salt, or winter grit as it is also known as, is a blended material of either white or brown salt mixed with a limestone grit or sharp washed sand.
Grit salt is best used in an application where snow has already settled and compacted on footpaths, driveways or any surface where snow is difficult to clear. The salt content helps to melt the ice and snow whilst the grit element gives a long lasting non-slip effect and increased traction.
Minor roadways and driveways that are already covered in compacted snow are often better spread with Winter Grit, rather than salt, as the grit helps to break up compacted snow and ice and provides increased grip particularly on inclined paths, roads and driveways.
