National Plant Operator / Operative - Water Treatment Team

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

We are currently recruiting for a National Plant Operator / Operative to join our Water Treatment team.

The successful candidate will be offered a position as part of the Water Treatment team delivering the current Filter Media Installation Projects.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Operating a range of mobile plants, including excavators, dumper telehandlers and loading shovels
  • Installation of pre-cast concrete tiles and pipe work
  • Operating mobile wash plant, screener and conveyor systems
  • Carrying out site housekeeping duties as required and small civic works

The successful candidate will ideally hold a current CSCS and/or CPCS skills card (or equivalent EPIC) and will have experience in operating multiple items of plant.

The site locations vary across the country and therefore the role will require early morning starts and the possibility of working away from home during the week.

Working hours: 50 hours per week, Monday-Friday 0700-1700.

Salary dependent on experience.

Plant Operative - Greenwich Depot

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

We are currently recruiting for Plant Operative to be based at our Greenwich Depot.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Operating Loading Shovel
  • Assisting other Yard Operatives
  • Keeping the site safe and tidy and manual handling of material

Loading Shovel operation experience is essential. Any other licences are welcome. Full Training will be provided. A reliable and flexible attitude is a must.

Working hours: 55 hours per week, Monday-Friday 0700-1700 / Saturday 0700-1200.

Sales Coordinator - Avonmouth Depot

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South of England. The business operates 21 sites across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London, Hampshire, Dorset and Bristol.

We are looking to recruit a full-time Sales Coordinator to be based at our Avonmouth Depot.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling incoming customer calls and email enquiries
  • Supporting field sales representatives
  • Advising customers on appropriate/available products
  • Sourcing & pricing of materials
  • Creation, amendment, follow up & closure of quotations in our CRM system
  • Order processing, to include raising proforma invoices, monitoring/taking payments, booking suppliers & entering orders using our in-house software
  • Data entry, reporting and system management tasks on the sales IT system

Other duties:

  • Preparation and posting of material samples
  • General office duties
  • Offering support to other members of the department when required
  • Covering other roles/duties in their absence

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an office-based sales position, preferably with a background in the Building or Construction Industry and possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A good working knowledge of IT systems and applications, including MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Be highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Have a proactive and positive attitude
  • Be a confident and effective communicator, both written and verbally
  • Works well as part of a team, but equally capable of managing own time and workload
  • A thorough knowledge of building / construction materials and aggregates would be beneficial, but not essential Full systems training will be provided.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00 - 17:00 or 7:00 - 16:00 (including 1 hour unpaid for lunch).

Assistant Depot Manager - Brentford Depot

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Manager to be based at our Brentford Depot.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee day to day operations
  • Ordering of trains
  • Stock management
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, safety and environmental requirements

WAMITAB/EPOC/IOSH qualifications and previous Loading Shovel or 360 Excavator experience is preferable, but not essential. Successful applicant should have an understanding of current Health & Safety legislation.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical administration skills. They should be productive and flexible with a can-do attitude and have excellent man- management skills.

Working Hours: 55 hours per week, Monday-Saturday.

Logistics Coordinator - Whitesmith Depot

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

We are currently recruiting for a Logistics Coordinator to be based at our Whitesmith Depot.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Extensive dialogue with customers and production staff
  • Data entry and general administration
  • Driver and vehicle management

Candidates will require a natural aptitude for logistics, should have the ability to work in a team and be flexible. Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. Sound IT skills and attention to detail are important.

Working Hours: 50 hours per week, Monday-Friday plus 1 in 3 Saturdays.

Key Responsibilities:

    Key Responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting other Operatives
    • Keeping the site safe and tidy
    • Manual Handling of materials
    • Operating loading shovel

    Full Training will be provided. A reliable and flexible attitude is a must.

    Working Hours: 55 hours per week; Monday to Friday 0630-1630 / Saturday 0630- 1130.

    Plant Operative - Tolworth

    Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South East. The business operates 21 sites across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London, Hampshire and Dorset.

    We are currently recruiting for a Plant Operative to be based at our Tolworth Bagging Plant.

    Key Responsibilities will include:

    • Bagging materials
    • Operating Telehandler, Skid Steer and Counterbalance
    • Discharging material from trains
    • Assisting other Yard Operatives
    • Keeping the site safe and tidy and manual handling of material

    Telehandler Forklift or Counterbalance Forklift experience is preferable. Any other licences are welcome.

    Full Training will be provided. A reliable and flexible attitude is a must. Working hours: 55 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.

    Apprentice LGV Driver, Brentford Depot

    Day Aggregates is offering would-be drivers the opportunity to join the Wallace School of Transport apprenticeship scheme. A 12-month apprenticeship to gain a Cat C, with the possibility for drivers to progress to C+E training after satisfactorily completing their Apprenticeship.

    Based at our Head Office in Brentford, West London. Reporting directly to the Fleet Manager as one of the Company's LGV drivers, you will play an important role within the organisation. The responsibilities associated with driving both on and off the public highway are significant; the skills required are considerable and your abilities on and off the road will make you a valued member of staff and ambassador for the Company.

    The role will involve:

    • Undertaking deliveries/pickups around London/M25 area
    • Carrying out all tasks required of you in a safe and legal manner
    • Knowing and understanding the laws applicable to large goods vehicles and consistently applying these regulations
    • Daily walk around vehicle checks and reporting of all vehicle defect
    • Knowledge of the Highway Code
    • Understanding and Following Tachograph procedures
    • Your working week will be Monday to Friday 06.30-16.30, 50 hours per week including breaks.

    Future Prospects

    Upon completion of the programme your hours will increase to 55 hours a week (Monday to Saturday), with probability of an increase in rates as you continue to grow and progress.

    LGV Drivers

    If you are interested in working for Day Aggregates as an LGV driver, please complete and submit the driver application form.

    You must hold a C + E licence, have a minimum 2 years driving experience, and have 5 years checkable work history to obtain an airside pass.

    In return Days offer the opportunity to drive a modern fleet of tipper and artic trucks, basic salary, 8% non-contributory pension plus benefits.

    Successful applicants will be contacted when a position becomes available at their requested depot. Application forms will be held on file for a maximum of 12 months.
