Maintenance Foreman - Avonmouth Depot

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

We currently have an exciting opportunity at Avonmouth Depot near Avonmouth Dock for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to work as a Maintenance Foreman. Starting in February 2020.

Reporting directly to the Depot Management, the successful candidate will ensure that plant is cleaned and maintained to a high standard whilst compliant with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

They will ensure the effective operation of plant, maximisation of throughput and prevention of downtime. Additionally, they will be appointed as a responsible person in the absence of senior Management and will oversee employees, fitters and contractors working in the depot to help ensure high standards are achieved and maintained.

The candidate will also ensure that staff and contractors comply with the rules and regulations that apply to the depot, including but not limited to ensuring there are risk assessments and or method statements in place for every task.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aggregate processing and/or recycling
  • Leadership skills and previous experience of managing small teams
  • A reasonable understanding of current Health & Safety legislation, including knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures; risk assessments; method statements and safe systems of work
  • Maintenance duties and housekeeping of static and mobile plant

Personal Skills and Attributes

  • A 'can do' attitude
  • A flexible and proactive approach

Working hours are expected to be 1200 to 2200 Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend working may be required.

Salary dependent on experience.

Sales Coordinator - Newhaven Rail Sales Office

Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

We are currently recruiting for a Sales Coordinator to be based at our Newhaven Rail Sales Office.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting field sales representatives
  • Dealing with a range of customer enquiries and order taking
  • Carry out data entry and reporting
  • System management tasks on sales IT system

The successful candidate will have experience in a sales office-based position. They should have good IT skills, have a pro-active and positive attitude, and be able to work as part of a team.

A background in the construction or aggregate industry would be beneficial.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00-17:30, including 1 hour unpaid for lunch (42.5 hours per week).

Salary dependent on experience.

Sales Coordinator - Purley Sales Office

    Yard Operative - Purley Depot

    Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

    We are currently recruiting for a Charge Hand to be based at our Purley Depot. Key Responsibilities will include:

    • Support the business objectives by improving productivity and quality
    • Implementation of the Company Health & Safety Policy
    • Adherence to the Company Environmental and Quality Policies
    • Take ownership of procedures and work instructions within the department
    • Motivate and lead all depot staff by example, upholding the company values at all times
    • Organise the work and the staff to process the workload efficiently and effectively
    • Operating Wheeled Loading Shovel and/or Excavator
    • Loading trucks, moving and repositioning aggregate materials in the bays and around the depot
    • Carrying out general yard duties, including maintenance and cleaning of the yard
    • May be required to discharge trains

    Wheeled Loading Shovel or Excavator operation experience is essential. The successful applicant should have an understanding of current Health & Safety legislation.

    Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical administration skills. They should be productive and flexible with a can-do attitude and have excellent man- management skills. Good communication and man management skills.

    Full Training will be provided.

    Working hours: 55 hours per week, Monday-Friday 0700-1700 / Saturday 0700-1200

    Plant Operative - Tolworth Depot

    Day Aggregates is one of the most successful suppliers of primary and recycled materials to the construction industry in the South. The business operates 21 sites stretching from Gloucestershire and Dorset across to London and into Kent.

    We are currently recruiting for a Plant Operative to be based at our Tolworth Depot.

    Key Responsibilities will include:

    • Bagging materials using fixed plant
    • Ensuring the high quality of bagged materials
    • Operating Counterbalance Forklift
    • Discharging material from trains
    • Assisting other Plant and Yard Operatives
    • Keeping the site safe and tidy and manual handling of materials

    Counterbalance Forklift experience is preferable. Any other licences are welcome. Full Training will be provided. A reliable and flexible attitude is a must.

    Working hours: 55 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.

    Future Prospects

    Upon completion of the programme your hours will increase to 55 hours a week (Monday to Saturday), with probability of an increase in rates as you continue to grow and progress.

    LGV Drivers

    If you are interested in working for Day Aggregates as an LGV driver, please complete and submit the driver application form.

    You must hold a C + E licence, have a minimum 2 years driving experience, and have 5 years checkable work history to obtain an airside pass.

    In return Days offer the opportunity to drive a modern fleet of tipper and artic trucks, basic salary, 8% non-contributory pension plus benefits.

    Successful applicants will be contacted when a position becomes available at their requested depot. Application forms will be held on file for a maximum of 12 months.
